Workshop Team Questions

Workshop Questions
Economic Crisis Outfalls Team 1 What would the nation’s and international civilian and military space programs look like five and tens years from now, assuming that expenditures for these items  are reduced by as much as  fifty percent?

Team 2 How would the above reductions affect commercial space business?

Team 3 What activities to secure lasting energy capabilities should be performed over the next 25-100 years while the Earth’s fossil fuels bridge is still intact?

Give specifics on alternate energy production methods, research areas, conservation, policies, ….

Space Transportation

Team 1 What are the all the possible methods of delivering non-human cargo to Earth orbit? What is the current state of development of these methods? (theory, lab demo, ...

Team 2 Enumerate the present and in-development vehicles for delivering humans to Earth orbit? What other possible methods or vehicles to get humans to orbit?

Team 3 How can schedule and cost be reduced by international cooperation?

Space Law ATWG What are implications of space and commercial Earth law on ATWG aerospace activities?
Space-based Solar Power

Team 1 What are the possible ways of producing power in space? What testing and prototyping of SBSP elements need to be done before making program go or no go decision?

Team 2 What are the advantages of producing electricity in Earth orbit versus on the Earth’s surface? For what applications could space-produced power be used on Earth?

Team 3 What are the technical challenges in building an SBSP system?

Team 4 What are the technical challenges of operating and maintaining a SBSP system?

Team 5 What are the details of possible organizational alliances, both national & international?

Education Workshop

Team 1 How can ATWG members help promote, execute, and inspire STEM education among youth? What would be the attributes of a "Space Corp" (perhaps similar to the Peace Corp)?

Team 2 How can adult life-long learning be encouraged?

Team 3 What are possible k-through-college space-oriented and space-based educational facilities?

Team 4 What are methods for ATWG mentoring of upcoming space professionals?

Team 5 What can we do to get the STEM challenges in front of k-12th grade educators? What can be done to encourage universities, researchers, and private enterprise to work together both to conduct basic science research and to pursue promising applications rather than restrict activities to those instantly applicable to current programs and projects?
